2012
BA (Hons) Popular Music and Record Production graduate Will Green is currently traveling the world as Tour Manager for global dance music brand, Ministry of Sound.
"I'm originally from Southampton and at the time of my application I was in a band as a drummer. I didn't want to move far so I looked at all the southern UK universities and their courses. After meeting with staff on the Popular Music and Record Production course, I decided it was right for me.
"During my internship I worked extremely hard and made a lot of contacts. At the end of my placement the Tours department offered me the training and opportunity to become a Tour Manager.
"I now get to travel all over the world with some of the best artists and DJs. I'm responsible for décor kit and its transport to the venue. On arrival, I have to make sure all aspects of the contract are satisfied and the décor is dressed up properly. I am also the point of contact for the venue/club promoter, the DJ/artist and Ministry of Sound Headquarters.
"On tour I've experienced all sorts of cultures, met many like-minded people, and find myself in situations that I would never have dreamed of - good and bad!
"I'm now working with much larger scale projects and am excited with the prospect of this continuing. My favorite project so far was a tour of Abu Dhabi and South Korea with Paul Deighton and Housexy. The standard of the events was extremely high and I got a fantastic buzz from being involved.
"Southampton Solent gave me the push in the right direction and the initial knowledge of the music industry that I have built upon to get where I am now. What's more, the experienced staff have helped with some great advice."
