2012
Every year, an event called "Meet the Professionals" is organised by our course tutors in collaboration with the Wessex branch of CIPR. The event takes place as a "speed-dating" format as small groups of students go from tables to tables to meet local professional coming from the Public Relations, Advertising and marketing fields.
This event gives the opportunity for students to ask professionals about their experience, how they got where they are now, what advice they could give them and what career opportunities they might be offered after completing their degree.
Second year student, Louise Carter, found this event “really helpful and inspiring to see the varied careers that this course can lead to. In small groups we were able to meet with representatives from a range of companies to discuss what they look for in applications and the kind of roles that are available to graduates.”
MCIPR from company Batphone PR London, Russel Ison said he was "impressed with the attitude and approach of the students and the clear dedication and professionalism of the university and its tutors." and added, "If these young people are the future of our industry, I can say that I am happy and confident that public relations is in safe hands."
