English Language Programmes

Language students in classOur English courses cover a variety of levels and disciplines. We teach General English, Business English and Academic English, and give background courses in areas such as British politices and society, the UK's international image, film, media, the economy, and the world of work.
The Language Centre's staff are highly experienced and well-qualified. Together with the international students who join us from different countries and cultures across the world, we aim to create a lively and friendly atmosphere.  

Language Foundation Year/International Foundation Certificate

The aim of the Language Foundation Year (LFY) or International Foundation Certificate (IFC) is to provide international students whose first language is not English with apppropriate preapration for study on an undergraduate degree course in the UK. You will need a level of English equivalent to an IELTS of 4.5 or equivalent.

BA (Hons) International Business Management and English

This course is ideal for international students who want to improve their English while doing a general business management degree. A balance of English and Business units will enhance your career prospects and improve your English for use in the workplace and academic fields. The minimum level needed for entry into Year 1 is IELTS 5.0 or equivalent.  More on International Business Management & English.|

Solent International Language Programme

As part of your programme of study or as a supplement to your studies, you can join one of our language courses. Subject to demand, we offer English as a Foreign Language, Chinese, French, German, Italian or Spanish.  More on International Language Programme.|
