Application details and visa requirements

How to apply

You can apply to go on exchange under the Erasmus Mobility Programme during your first year of studies at Southampton Solent University. In order to be eligible, you must contact your Course Leader in order to discuss the possibility of going abroad.

Students within the Faculty of Business, Sport and Enterprise (FBSE) will have to meet with the Placement Tutor, who will help and advise you.

Students in the Faculty of the Creative Industries and Society (FCIS) who wish to go abroad for a year should contact their Course Leader and the corresponding School's Academic Exchange Coordinator.

If you are a student in the Maritime and Technology Faculty (MarTec) or at Warsash Maritime Academy (WMA) you need to speak to your Course Leader to see if this programme would be of benefit for you.

After you have obtained your Course leader's agreement to go abroad, you will need to make an appointment with the Academic Partnerships Office in order to finalise all aspects relating to your official nomination under the Erasmus Programme. It is important to be aware that Partner Institutions will only consider applications that have been endorsed by Southampton Solent University. Each partner has its own application procedure to be followed, information that can be found in each institution's website.

Getting there

Whilst the Academic Partnerships Office will assist as much as possible with advice and general information on non-academic issues, it is the student's own responsibility to arrange transport, transfers, accommodation etc.

Deadlines

For students going abroad in Period One or Full Year: deadlines for applications are generally around mid April to mid May. For students going abroad on Period Two: beginning of November.

Please note that some partner universities may have different deadlines. Closing dates for North America and Canada are earlier in order to allow time for obtaining visas. Please contact us via email: international.exchanges@solent.ac.uk| to learn more about a particular university.

Visas

If you wish to study in North America, please note that you will require a visa. It is your responsibility to make arrangements to obtain a visa in good time before your departure.
