Funding for EU students

EU tuition fee loan  

If you have difficulties paying for your fees, you can apply for a loan which is repayable when you have finished your studies and have a job paying more than approximately £21,000 per year.* The Government pays the University on your behalf, in the form of a fees loan, and you pay back later through the tax system. In order to apply, you can either download the EU13N Form| or apply online|.

* This is the repayment threshold in the UK. Differences in living costs will be taken into account and therefore the repayment threshold may vary in different countries.

Foundation Level Tuition Fee Waiver        

From 2012/13, a new £1 million scheme of total fee waivers for Foundation Year students (Level 0 of an undergraduate course), targeted at new home and EU students from low participation neighbourhoods in Southampton and the local region. This scheme will use the same application process as the National Scholarship Programme, although students will not be able to hold both awards. There are 75 Foundation Tuition Fee waivers available. National Scholarship programme   

Eligibility
This scheme will be available to new EU undergraduate students starting a programme of study with us in 2012/13 and whose tuition fees are over £6,000 (deadline to be confirmed). To be eligible for a National Scholarship, applicants will need to have an annual household income of less than £25,000 and meet both the Government national eligibility criteria and the additional University eligibility criteria. University Bursary   

Southampton Solent University offers a bursary to full-time undergraduate EU students, as follows:

Up to £400 bursary for each year of study, for students from lower income families, if you don't get the National Scholarship Programme (NSP).
Bursaries of up to £400 will be given to students whose household income is below £25,000, on courses with fees of £7,200 and above.

Once you have submitted the tuition fee loan (EU13N) and if applying for the EU bursary, you will automatically be sent out the EU13B form.

The Sport Scholarships   

Sport Solent offers different levels of support to student athletes, based on their sporting talent and potential.

The High Performance Academy scholarship| awards a discount of up to £1,000 on accommodation in halls,
with further benefits totalling up to £2,500.

Sports scholarships| are also awarded: two in cricket and two in basketball, that cover the cost of tuition fees paid in the first year and provide a fees discount of 50% in future years.
