The great advantage Lewis School of English has is that it is situated opposite the University Campus so to visit us is a very short walk away.
Every year we have a number of students who visit the Campus to see what university would be like.
Entry requirements
We accept students from the Lewis School of English who have their pre university qualifications from their own country and just need to prepare for IELTS or general English. Along with the pre university requirements, we require an IELTS of 6.0 for bachelor degree programmes and an IELTS of 6.5 for postgraduate courses.

"As a domestic lawyer in my country, I understood that knowledge of international law is very neces
sary for my future. That is why I decided to study in the UK, one of the most developed countries in the world. My first choice, of course, was to go to Southampton where I was told so much about its green parks and friendly environment.
However, my English at that moment did not meet the requirement of Southampton Solent University for studying law. Therefore, I applied for an English course at Lewis School of English, which is located opposite to the University. In fact, their teaching method combining studying and entertaining helped me so much to improve my English skills.
When I came to the University, I faced a problem which most foreign students have: an unfamiliar education system. Luckily, the University and its International Office recognised the situation and willingly helped me. I have now been here for more than a year and I am really enjoying my LLM master course."

"In 2006, I studied at Lewis School of English which provided General Speaking English classes. I venture to say that I really enjoyed my time there. There were lovely days in terms of my study at Lewis School of English. I went to several famous places and cities such as London, Brighton and Bath.
Above all, I was getting accustomed to living in the UK. By the end of August, I had decided to apply to Solent University in order to study the International Postgraduate Foundation Year before studying a Master degree. When I went to the International Recruitment Office, I found that everybody was friendly in the office and helped me with the application process.
I strongly believe that I am learning English much better than I expected with the help of my lecturers. Needless to say, my Master in Management and International Business will help me become more confident.
