Law School

Welcome to the web site of the Southampton Solent University Law School. Since our foundation we have provided a high quality legal education to thousands of students with some of the most innovative law programmes in England and Wales. We are housed in a modern teaching block in central Southampton which is equipped with state of the art seminar and lecture rooms. The School also enjoys a bright, modern, well stocked law library and extensive IT facilities, including off campus internet access for our students to most of the major legal resources.

We offer law related courses at all levels of study from HND to PhD, including our popular LLB (Hons) law degree, available as a stand alone or with a non law 'pathway'. Both the LLB and the LLB 'with pathway' are qualifying Law Degrees for the purposes of becoming a lawyer in England and Wales. At postgraduate level we offer the LLM taught masters degree and the Postgraduate Diploma in Law for non law graduates wishing to qualify as a Barrister or Solicitor. The Law Research Centre offers supervision leading to higher research degrees and MPhils or PhDs.

Our efforts are not just directed towards teaching, important though that is. We are also a thriving community of scholars. Several members of the school have published student textbooks and others have published articles in respected law journals.

Our students have the opportunity to learn foreign languages as part of their degree programme and to study abroad under the Socrates/Erasmus programme. Additionally, there are thriving student societies in areas such as mooting and debating.
