Final year Fashion with Photography student Janine Hearn brought a slice of American culture to Southampton Solent University's Fashion with Photography degree show this June.
Janine's photographs – based on American youth culture - have already impressed industry professionals, and she has been offered the chance to gain experience working on promotional campaigns for Californian-based sneaker manufacturer, Vans.
Janine said: "Youth culture inspires and affects every part of our lives and it is developing and changing every day. I wanted to show the new obstacles different generations face and the loss of innocence in the choices that today's youth have to make."
Janine's inspiration comes from photographer/director Larry Clark - whose portrayal of the gritty reality of American suburban life has influenced the careers of iconic directors Martin Scorsese and Gus Van Sant. She also credits her mentor, Senior Fashion Lecturer Lisa Mann, for driving her work forward and pushing her to reach her goals.
