News release - The Doctor and the Devils

Southampton Solent University Performance students will be spilling some blood in their final degree show production of The Doctor and the Devils by Dylan Thomas.

Written in the 1950's by welsh poet and playwright Dylan Thomas, this dark play is based on the story of grave robbers Burke and Hare. The disreputable Robert Fallon and Timothy Broom provide fresh cadavers for Dr Rock's teaching hospital. Whey they can't dig up corpses fast enough to suit Dr Rock, Fallon and Broom decide to streamline their methods via murder!

Director and Southampton Solent University Performance Lecturer Matt Fletcher says:

"This is an exciting piece of physical theatre that captures the audience's imagination with a dynamic cast taking the audience through a thrilling roller coaster of emotions from start to finish."

Performance student Rodger Lloyd who plays the body thirsty Doc is loving every minute of rehearsals and can't wait to bring the play to an audience.  He said:

"Playing the role of Dr Rock is a fantastic challenge and a wonderful springboard into the acting profession, I hope! It's a great climax to my three years at Solent."

The Production will be playing for two evenings at 7.00pm from 14-15 May at Hangar Farm Arts Centre, Off Aitkman Lane, West Totton, Southampton. Tickets are available on the door for £5.00 and £3.00 concessions.
