SSU shows business how to shape up

May 23 2008

A healthy workforce is a productive workforce. Southampton Solent University will be showing local businesses how to keep in shape at a free health and wellbeing event on Wednesday May 28 2008.

The health and wellbeing of employees is a critical factor in reducing the cost and level of sickness absence due to stress, back problems and heart disease. As part of the Active Southampton campaign, the University is offering local organisations a range of low cost health and fitness solutions that will help improve the health and wellbeing of employees.

The day will begin with a breakfast seminar with speakers from the worlds of business and sport, including Olympic athlete Iwan Thomas, MBE, and Kiki Maurey from KMC.

During the afternoon there will be workshops on a range of health and wellbeing issues, including getting more active, improving posture and managing mental health issues. There will also be the opportunity to look around the University's new state-of-the-art sports labs where health checks for blood pressure, cholesterol and body mass index will be on offer.

Anyone unable to attend the event can find out more about the services on offer by calling 023 8031 9257 or email ceo@solent.ac.uk||.
