student looks at paper cuts.
17 June 2008
Southampton Solent University student Charlotte Callin felt so strongly about the environment she used her unusual recycled sugar paper cut-out designs to get her eco messages across at her final degree show.
The BA (Hons) Illustration student was initially inspired by environmentally friendly cosmetics company, Lush, who make their products from organic fruit and vegetables and essential oils.
Charlotte said: "I wanted to create something intricate and visually stimulating with a strong environmental message that I could visualise Lush using in their interiors.
"I was really pleased with the project, which was helped through Southampton Solent University's superb print making facilities and my lecturers Jonny Hannah and Peter Lloyd, who helped me to develop my print-making skills and paper-cut technique."
