News release - Marine-focused digital design event

  STow tankolent University’s and Marine South East are holding an afternoon of marine-focused talks and seminars with some of the UK’s top Digital Design and Manufacturing companies, during Southampton PSP Boat Show 2009. 

The event – on September 16 from 2-7pm at Solent University – will give marine professionals the opportunity to talk with industry experts, try out some of their state-of-the-art software and equipment, and find out how it can be used to improve current design and manufacture processes.

Solent University’s design and engineering experts will be on hand to discuss the research and support they can provide to industry, and give tours of the state-of-the-art facilities that the University’s Innovation and Design Centre can offer - including the Tow Tank and wave generator, used for testing boat prototypes, and the 5 axis CNC equipment that can produce scaled models for testing from 3D drawings. 

Gordon Brand, Enterprise and Project Manager for the University’s Innovation and Design Centre, said: “The UK is a world leader in boat design and manufacture and this is a great opportunity to show industry professionals the facilities and expertise that Solent has to offer.” 

Visitors will also have the opportunity to attend short seminars on the following topics:

Other companies and organisations exhibiting and taking part include Marine South East – the marine industry’s government funded body for the region - SolidSolutions, Delcam, Drive Design, Rodd Design and Measurement Solutions.
