News release Holocaust memorial day

Southampton will be marking the UK’s national Holocaust Memorial Day with a commemorative event on Saturday January 30 at Solent University.  

Holocaust Memorial Day is dedicated to the remembrance of victims who perished as a result of the genocide of the Second World War. The chosen date is the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp. 

The event - organised in conjunction with the Parkes Institute, University of Southampton and the Oasis Academy, Lordshill – will feature music, film excerpts and readings from local school children and students. There will also be recordings and images of survivors.
