Graduate Fashion Show 2011

Following their London debut at the beginning of June, graduating fashion students from Southampton Solent University will be showcasing their final collections in a local show on 10 June.
The cutting edge collections will take to the catwalk at the University’s state-of-the-art John Millais Theatre, East Park Terrace, Southampton, at 7.30pm.
Graduating Fashion Design students will be presenting collections utilising a range of fabric types and incorporating diverse themes from “wearable architecture”- using riveted metal and wood - to collections inspired by abstract expressionism and the destructive power of water.
Southampton Solent University’s Fashion Programme leader Philip Clarke is certain that the outfits will meet with an enthusiastic response:
“This year’s students have really been experimenting with fabric and form. There are strong collections, supported by innovative concepts.”
Make-up for the event will once again be sponsored by cutting-edge brand Illamasqua, with whom the BA (Hons) Make-up and Hair Design courses have developed a strong link over the past two years.

Prior to the Southampton shows, students will this year be presenting their collections in a catwalk show at the Free Range event in the increasingly fashionable Brick Lane area of London, on 1 June.
Clarke says: “The ‘Free Range’ London catwalk show at The Old Truman Brewery is an excellent opportunity to showcase Solent talent and demonstrate our diversity to the London fashion industry.”
“Fashion is a highly competitive industry and we pride ourselves on producing designers, photographers and stylists who, as well as mastering technical skills, develop a finely-tuned business sense and sophisticated conceptual awareness.”
The University will also have a stand at ‘Graduate Fashion Week’ event, Earls Court, London from 5-8 June. Final-year students from the Fashion Design and Promotion, Fashion with Photography, and Media and Fashion Styling will showcase their work and portfolios.
