Filming Cowes Week
For the third Year in a row, Southampton Solent University’s media production centre, provided live coverage of the world famous regatta, Cowes Week.
From 4-13 August a team of 15 Solent University staff and students provided television production and broadcast support to one of the most high profile events in the yachting calendar.
This invaluable hands on work experience gives students the chance to work as professional suppliers of sports programming alongside industry experts and Solent graduates.
Solent Productions, the University's dedicated media production centre, provided the students with its high spec equipment to film the week's action, which provided instant and comprehensive footage of the race starts and finishes for Event TV and the 40 screens dotted around Cowes, during the event.
Jonathan Plummer, the head of Solent Productions says: “We were very pleased to be involved with Cowes Week again this year. The University’s strengths in media and maritime education make us a natural choice for providing live coverage of one of the most famous sailing regattas in the world."
