Monday 10 October 2011

The School of Technology in the Maritime and Technology Faculty at Southampton Solent University has taken over the organisation of an International conference on ICT in Education.

Solent will partner with the University of the Aegean for the international, peer reviewed conference ICICTE 2012, which will be held on Rhodes, Greece from 5-7 July 2012.

The conference, which has been running for 12 years, addresses the many challenges and new directions presented by technological innovations in educational settings.

Dr Chris Barlow, Solent’s Reader in the School of Technology, will Chair the conference, with administration of the conference undertaken by the Maritime and Technology Faculty's enterprise centre.

Previously run by the University of the Fraser Valley, Canada, the conference attracts delegates from around 40 countries in five continents, and acts as a forum to promote the research and scholarly activity undertaken in the area of technology-led learning.

Mark Udall, Head of the University’s School of Technology said: "It is a great achievement for the School and the Faculty to take over the management of this prestigious conference and it is a tribute to Chris' growing reputation within the research community".

The Journals Campus-Wide Information Systems, the American Journal of Distance Education and the Journal of Cyber Ethics in Education will devote special issues to selected papers from the ICICTE 2012 conference.
