Students stage fashion fundraiser
Friday 14 October 2011
Southampton Solent University students raised the roof with a fashion fundraiser at the Botleigh Grange Hotel to raise money for the Hampshire Autistic Society.
The fashion show, on Thursday October 13, aimed to raise more than £1,000 for the charity while giving students vital hands-on experience.
Fashion students from each year showed a range of exciting designs, influenced by Film Noir and Pop Art, with a brightly-coloured collection inspired by Andy Warhol.
Solent University Fashion Management Lecturer, Pascal Matthias, said: “This was the first time that the students had seen their garments walked down the catwalk. The event provided them with a great opportunity to prepare them for their finals. People enjoyed seeing the students work while raising money for such a brilliant local charity.”
Hampshire Autistic Society Events and Volunteer Fund-Raiser Kerry James said: “The event helped create awareness and funds for our charity. The students’ designs were really creative and imaginative. Everyone had a great night.”
Students from right across fashion were involved in the event, including Fashion Management with Marketing, Fashion Design, Fashion Promotion, Fashion Photography and Fashion Hair and Make Up all attended.
