Charity benefits from Solent students' donation
30 January 2012
BA (Hons) Marketing with Advertising Management students from Southampton Solent University donated £200 to Naomi House Hospice after raising money during a Fresher’s week Apprentice style challenge.
The money that students raised was presented to Naomi House’s Debby Bartlett, who gave the students an interesting talk on the role of advertising in raising funds and awareness for the charity.
During the week the contestants were required to create and sell a new product on a £10 budget and endure a ‘board room’ grilling. The winning students – The A Team - had opted to produce a drink which could be branded up for this year’s Olympics.
Debby Bartlett said: “Thank you to the students who raised money for Naomi House during Fresher’s Week. Everything that is raised helps all the young people who attend Naomi House and Jack’s Place.”
Lesley Strachan from the Southampton Solent Business School said: “Students were actively involved in their learning all week and did an amazing job in spite of the weather which was unseasonably hot."
