Sarah Hand

Lecturer in Fashion

Sarah Hand has a BA (Hons) in Photography (first class) and a Masters in Professional Practices in Photography and Fashion (distinction).

Sarah currently lectures on the BA (Hons) Fashion courses, specialising in Fashion Design, Graphics, Promotion and Fashion with Photography. Prior to this she taught photography on the Media, Culture and Production programme for the Faculty of Media, Arts and Society in conjunction with working for the Centre for Research and Enterprise in Art, Design and Media and the FMAS Research Centre.

Her current research combines fashion performance, photography and interactive technologies, relating to sonic, motion and image immersive environments. This research links to a number of conference papers that she has delivered nationally – Oxford, Sheffield and Cardiff Universities and internationally – Prague, Iceland, Bulgaria and Turkey. Her photographic work has been exhibited over the past 8 years in both solo and group shows and she has contributed to a number of academic publications. She is a member of the women’s photography research group – IRIS.

Sarah is Chairman of Exhibitions at the Cameron Museum and Galleries and a Governor for the Board of Trustees for the Julia Margaret Cameron Trust. Her previous work has attracted a number of national awards for business planning and management, along with a number of other prestigious photographic and business awards.
