fourteen members of the FBSE faculty. As it has developed so the research interests of the Cluster have expanded beyond its original focus of exploring local commercial activity during economic recession.
The early research work of the Cluster has tended to be subject-based and centred around the business and HR strategies used by local organisations in tough economic conditions. Articles stemming from this research are currently being prepared.
During the coming year it is expected new research projects will become cross-disciplinary and cross-institutional in nature. Plans for forthcoming research include projects to explore the entrepreneurial intentions of undergraduate students, the use of aesthetic labour in retailing and the experiences of female entrepreneurs.
The Cluster comprises both experienced and novice researchers and careful attention is given towards building research teams that contain a mix of both. This will enable research skills to be shared in a way that will promote learning of research and analysis techniques amongst less experienced colleagues.
The work of our Cluster feeds into classroom teaching and has the potential to lead to the development of new units. Additionally the Cluster will seek opportunities to share the results of our research at academic conferences and employer forums.
