contributors, several of whom already collaborate with museums, magazines and cosmetic companies. The e-magzine is influenced by critical discourse that suggests that the fashioned body is a separate identity that no longer defines femininity or self-presentation. The cosmetic appreciation of the fashioned body image through body modification, the body as performance and communication tool and hence the body as a whole will be represented by addressing the interpretation of future bodies. The publication aims to provide an artistic arena powered by ‘avant-garde’ art direction, opinionated writers and striking photography in an interactive environment using embedded sound and video for a richer page experience. The 5th Character intends to offer an artistic and unique information vehicle for readers that is far from a traditional ‘conformist’ online periodical; it aspires to be a magazine that is a work of art in its own right.
