Literature and Creative Writing
Cluster lead: Dr Steve Purcell
The Literature and Creative Writing research cluster comprises a diverse range of academics and practitioners. It aims to be a forum from which creative, industry-linked and pedagogic ideas may be developed and disseminated to a wider audience.
Membership comprises of an exciting range of academics and practitioners who are actively engaged in
interdisciplinary research, often in collaboration with other institutions such as Bournemouth University, the University of Kent, and the University of Metaphysics, California. Others are engaged in collaborative projects with industry professionals including Simon Trewin of United Agents Ltd, and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre.
Several members provide consultancy services: Tim McClellan and Sandra Cain for the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, and Sara Bailey on novel-writing. All members of the cluster regularly publish their work in the form of books, articles, playscripts or conference papers.
The cluster is committed to nurturing the links between research, practice, industry and teaching and aims to reach an audience that is not limited to the academic but which also embraces the wider community. It aims to participate in the forthcoming REF.
