Dr Mark de Valk's film screening
'The Body as Montage: a spectacle of punishment'
Dr Mark de Valk presented a screening of his PhD Film Practice project, 'The Body as Montage: A Spectacle of Punishment'. This film that sparked a debate between staff and students looks at the representations of the body as a site of ‘resistance’.
Dr Mark de Valk, Senior Lecturer in Film and TV Studies, recently presented his Phd in Film Practice project: The Body as Montage: A Spectacle of Punishment in the updated Lecture Theatre 1.
This experimental docu-narrative critiques the (female) body’s subjugation by the state and cinematically considers a series of cultural and political spatial representations of the body as a site of ‘resistance’. Staff and students from the faculty enjoyed a lively debate after the screening.
