Professor Alan Schechner's photography exhibition at the Bargate Monument Gallery: 'New York City Art World Scum'

Visual and interactive art's head of school, Professor Alan Schechner visited America's leading fine art fair, 'The Armory Show' in March of this year. Alan was astounded by how the conversation of art as he understood it had been silenced. In response to this, instead of taking photographs of the art, Alan turned his camera onto the dealers. An exhibition of these photographs is taking place from 5 May 2011 at the Bargate Monument Gallery.

David Oakley on the BBC One Show

David Oakley is a part time PhD student looking at the occupancy-based analysis of the weasel, stoat and polecat population. His studies have attracted national attention, with an appearance on the BBC’s One Show.

SoFair

SoFair is a social enterprise developed by Professor Steven Henderson that has begun by selling organic pure cotton products made by a firm of women based in a Chennai village devastated by the Tsunami. Working with a commercial clientele, interns at Solent University, volunteers and Vandanamu Ethical Cottons, the long-term aim is to reach a point where the project can maintain a self-funding social enterprise.

Jonny Hannah's new exhibition at Hornsey's gallery, North Yorkshire: 'White Horses and Unquiet Graves'

Senior lecturer in illustration, Jonny Hannah is exhibiting from 18 June - 18 July 2011 at Hornsey's gallery in Ripon, North Yorkshire. The exhibition includes paintings, cut-outs and screen prints amongst other assortments. Folk and jazz music are important in Jonny's work and the exhibition coincides with a visit from the Museum of British Folklore to the gallery.

Film screening: Dr Mark de Valk's 'The Body as a Montage: A Spectacle of Punishment'

Senior lecturer in Film and Television Studies, Dr Mark de Valk has recently presented his PhD in Film Practice project: 'The Body as Montage: A Spectacle of Punishment' at Southampton Solent University.
