Entry requirements
Research at this level is interesting and exciting. However it also requires considerable commitment, perseverance and creativity. It presents a challenge both intellectually and organisationally, and you will need to work independently. Entry requirements to study for a postgraduate research degree are as follows:

MPhil/PhD: First or Second class honours degree in a relevant subject.

PhD Direct: Master’s degree or transfer from successful MPhil.
Language requirements: Students for whom English is not a first language will have either achieved an overall International English Language Testing Score (IELTS) score of 6.5, with minimum sub-score of 6.0 in the writing section.
OR
an overall TOEFL score of 92 (Internet-based).
If you have studied your first degree or higher degree and answered your examinations in English you will be exempt.
