Team Solent
Southampton Solent University has over 30 student sports teams which compete as
'Team Solent'
Team Solent finished 70th out of 142 Higher Education establishments in the BUCS (formerly BUSA) league in 2008/9.
To maintain this level of achievement students have been given increased support with helping individuals and teams through hiring managers and coaches and introducing the
STAND
'Solent Talent Athlete Network Devlopment'| Scheme.
Clubs are run centrally by the Sport Solent department which
includes all aspects of management and administration. All members of the 'Solent Sports Development Team' are also involved in liaising with teams to help get them up and running, offer advice and give support through the year.

Sport Solent also employs a number of professionals to coach and manage the clubs to ensure they are able to compete and develop to the highest standard.
Clubs traditionally have a student based committee also, which work with Sport Solent, and in particular organise all the social aspects of the club.
Joining a club
Don't worry if you missed Freshers Sports Fair, you can still get involved with the clubs any time of the year. Just contact the Sport Solent Reception.
To join a club you will need to complete the club membership form as well as the Sport Solent Membership Form. The Sport Solent card| cost £5 and entitles you to play your sport, participate in the intramural programmeas well as giving you a range of benefits including some free swimming at the Quays.
