RYA Basic Navigation and Safety Course

This course is aimed at recreation water users across all water activities to provide a basic understanding of navigation and safety whilst afloat.  This is a two day course covering the foundations of safety on the water.  This course is particularly aimed at fishermen, kayakers, jet-skiiers and the like or occasional water users.

RYA Day Skipper Theory course

This a comprehensive introduction to chartwork, navigation, meteorology and the basics of seamanship. You will find this course invaluable if you want to learn how to start making decisions on board, and if you are considering taking the Day Skipper practical course.

Assumed knowledge is nil, however some practical knowledge would be desirable.

On completion, the syllabus arms would be skippers with enough knowledge to navigate around familiar waters by day. However lights, weather and IRPCS are also included in the course.

Dates: 5-6 Mar + 11-13 Mar.
Times: 09.00-17.00 Each Day
Duration: 40 Hours and 2 Assessment Papers


Please note:  Theory course prices do not include the teaching  pack, plotter, dividers and practice almanac necessary to complete the course. These may be purchased on the first day of the course depending on requirements. Teaching pack and Training Almanac cost £40.00.

Coastal Skipper / Yachtmaster® Offshore shorebased navigation course

An advanced course ideal for candidates for the Coastal Skipper practical course and Yachtmaster® Offshore exam. As well as having some provision for revising the Day Skipper shorebased course it covers more advanced skills in offshore and coastal navigation by day and night, pilotage and meteorology.

Participants must be upto Day Skipper Theory standard with some practical experience

On completion the learner will understand the principles of coastal and offshore navigation.
