Accommodation at SSU
Living with us
First time away from home? There's nothing to worry about.
Built in the nineties, our Student Residences are not only modern and attractive, they're also great places to work, relax, socialise and meet new friends. Within the residences you will find a friendly, welcoming atmosphere and a real community spirit.
In total we have six halls of residence which are all within a short stroll of the city centre and the campus. So, whether it's lectures, a session in the library, shopping or a night out on the town, it's all close by.
Contemporary and comfortable, all study-bedrooms are furnished with a bed, wardrobe, chair and desk. Many are en-suite and are in flats with their own front door or access-only entry. All the Residences are self-catering and have shared kitchens with a cooker, kettle, microwave and fridge/freezer.
Safe and secure
Uni life provides the opportunity to be independent and stand on your own two feet but equally we believe that help should never be far away and a dedicated Residence Management Team is on hand 24-hours a day, seven days a week.
Each Residence, study-bedroom and kitchen is designed to ensure only residents can gain access. Southampton is also fortunate to be one of only a few cities that has dedicated Police Higher Education Liaison Officers, who are on hand to give confidential help or advice.

Peace of mind with new Housing Code
The halls of residence at Southampton Solent University fully comply with a new standard for student accommodation, the Universities UK/Guild HE Code of Practice for the Management of Student Housing|.
This code covers, among other matters, health and safety, maintenance and repair, and relationships between the University and student tenants. It outlines best practice and provides benchmarks for the management - and quality - of student housing in the sector.
A place of your own
Of course you don't have to opt for residences.
If your looking for alternative student accommodation, then you can opt for private rented accommodation, either as a lodger or sharing a house or flat with some friends. View our accredited property list at www.sassh.co.uk| (password is housing1) or view our alternative accommodation page| for more information.
You can also stay with us over the summer, so if you find that you can't tear yourself away and want to stay for a few extra weeks please have a look at summer accommodation page| for more information.
