Life in Southampton
A vibrant and modern city, Southampton has something to offer everyone and by living in the Residences you're right in the heart of it.
With approximately 36,000 students living in Southampton, the city is very student friendly and there is always something going on. Southampton is one of the greenest cities in the country and is surrounded by spacious parks, which are ideal for everything from a kickabout to stretching out in the sun.
Being the capital city of the South, it's a magnet for, well, just about everything! Big name DJs, the latest bands, West End theatre productions, big sporting events - you name it, they all come here.
If you're into sports, Southampton is home to the Saints football club and to national and international cricket at the Hampshire Rose Bowl. In addition to the sports centre and gym on the main campus, Southampton also has a large swimming and diving complex called The Quays.
City living
There are many advantages of city living. Everything is within easy walking distance giving you more leisure time to relax and enjoy the entertainment that Southampton has to offer. Restaurants, bars, nightclubs and one of the biggest shopping malls in the south are all within easy reach. If you prefer something more cultured, there are countless museums, galleries and theatres. There is a great atmosphere, reflecting the 'work hard, play hard' attitude of its students and residents.
What's more, because of our city centre location, all of this is never very far away. And when you want something different, the glorious New Forest, Isle of Wight, beaches of the south coast and even France are all within easy reach.
Southampton really does have something to offer everyone and is a great place to be a student.
