Volunteering

Volunteering is a great way to enhance employability skills, meet new people, learn about the local culture and ultimately give something back to the local community.

Students

'73% of employers would rather employ someone with voluntary experience than someone without! (Timebank)

That is just one of the benefits of volunteering! Whether students want to give one day a year or one day a week, we have information on flexible volunteering opportunities in the local region and beyond.

Whatever your motivation, from wanting to gain practical experience in a real life setting or challenging yourself to try something new, we are able to provide you with information and support you during your experience. For information on the current opportunities and how to register your interest, visit the student volunteering pages|.

Charities and voluntary groups

With over 16,000 students studying at Southampton Solent University, we have an enthusiastic, eclectic mix of people to whom you can promote your volunteering opportunities. With a series of specific and technical courses, some our our students might be able to provide that specialist knowledge you are looking for.

Whether it is a one off event or a regular opportunity, we can promote it to our students. A number of our active volunteers also contribute to the local community but choose to volunteer as part of their course via Curriculum Plus|.
