How do I apply for my student funding?
Applications for
all grants, loans and bursaries| (
except for the
halls reduction|,
National scholarship programme| and
state benefits|) are made via Student Finance England (SFE) on
one application form (PN1 - New, or PR1 - Returners, see below) for
every year you study
.
When to apply
Returning students:
-
can re-apply now for 2012/13 entry by 29 June 2012 (to get their funding on time) on a PR1 form; Guidance notes
New students:
Applications will continue to be processed after the deadline, but there is no guarantee of a payment at the start of the term. You may need to have some money set aside to tide you over until your funds come through.
What you need to do
-
New applicants must register online then follow the application procedure.
-
If being income assessed, your parents/partner will also need to register and complete their section of your application (Pff2 form). If you are not income assessed, you will only receive the Tuition Fee Loan and the basic Maintenance Loan.
-
Online applications are preferable, but paper applications may be available to download, please call the SFE helpline on 0845 300 5090.
Applying for the University Bursary:
-
You (and your parents/partner, if applicable) must give 'consent to share' on the application form, in order to get the University Bursary. This is done by not ticking the box (on the paper form) or saying 'YES' (on online form).
-
Failure to give consent will result in no University Bursary being awarded. This can be amended by all parties giving consent over the phone, call 0845 603 4016.
Online advice
The Student Loan Company (SLC) run daily online student finance surgeries, where students can pose questions - via Facebook| or Twitter| - to their advisors and get real-time advice.
