Lisa Wilson Scholarship - Qualifying criteria
To be considered for a scholarship applicants:

Must be UK home student.

Must have been accepted for a place on a FdA, FdSc, HND or a Degree course at Southampton Solent University.

Must state in writing the adversity they have overcome and demonstrate why he/she needs extra financial help with the cost of studies.

Must provide a letter of support from their Sixth-form or FE college tutor or if not at college and employed, from current Employer.
Successful applicants for Foundation and HND courses will receive funding of up to £1,000 per year, subject to annual review. Further funding will be available for these students progressing onto a degree course after completing their Foundation or HND. Students may receive a one off payment of a £1,000 maximum or continued funding of up to £1000 for the duration of their degree course, subject to annual review. A written account will be required from the student to illustrate how they will benefit from this award. This should not exceed one side of A4.
Successful applicants for BA/BEng/BSc degree courses will receive funding of up to £1000 maximum per year, subject to annual review. A written account will be required from the student to illustrate how they will benefit from this award. This should not exceed one side of A4.
Important note: if a recipient repeats an academic year, funding will only continue for those students who may have extenuating circumstances. This will be subject to a review by the scholarship committee of the written account and evidence provided by the student.
Applications and Deadlines
The closing date for applications for 2012 entry is 20 July 2012.
Selection will take place in August 2012 for commencement of the scholarship bursary in the October of the same year.
Applicants will be informed of the outcome no later than 3 September 2012.
Payments of this bursary will be made by cheque in two parts: First payment in November 2012 and second payment in February 2013.
