Staff take part in the Three Peaks Challenge
In memory of Gary Lewis
A great challenge in memory of a great man.
In October 2009 the unthinkable happened. While we went about our daily lives without much thought, we received the news that our friend, brother, son and partner, Gary Lewis, had passed away under tragic circumstances. The response to this loss overwhelmed the people closest to him and really highlighted the impact this great young man had on the many whose hearts he touched. Gary's passion was for physical activity and achieving feats unimaginable for many. One of these was completing the Three Peaks Challenge. Now, a year on, a group of us plan to repeat the 24-hour Three Peaks Challenge in the name of the Sport Relief charity, and to honour the man who made such an impact on our lives.
While we do not wish for you to join us on the 24 hour trek, a contribution towards the charity fund would be gratefully appreciated. We thank you for your support.
Thank you.

Archery success for Solent!
Student sets new BUCS record.
Archers from many of Britain’s universities competed at the Annual BUCS Outdoor Archery Championships at Lilleshall Sports Centre – the archery equivalent of football’s Wembley!
Solent had a sole entry, Sam Moss - studying PgCert Blended Learning - who won the Experienced Lady Barebow category and set a new BUCS record! The competition involved shooting 144 arrows at 70m, 60m, 50m and 30m, which in blustery weather without stabilisers or a sight was not an easy feat.
If you are a student and interested in being part of Solent's first archery club (Solent Uni Bowmen) or already participate in archery and would like to take part in university competitions, please can you contact Sport Solent to register your interest for September 2010.
There are many types of bow to choose from including Olympic Recurve, Barebow, Longbow and Compound Bow - there really is a style for everyone! There is also a 'Novice' category for first time archers so you don't have to shoot against experienced archers during your first year of shooting.
