Double disappointment for playoff hopes
After both the American Football in the BUAFL and the Basketball team in the EBL had debut success' in their respective leagues, March proved to be a testing month with both teams losing out at late stages of their playoff campaigns.
Solent Redhawks the newly formed American Football team, pushed forward without a defeat in the league this season, and after a 22-0 victory over Essex Blades in Conference 4 Playoffs Round One, they lost out to Hertfordshire Hurricanes 46 - 7 in Round Two.
Team Solent also mirrored this success in the debut season of the EBL reaching the playoffs as Division Four (South West) Champions. The Playoff Quarter Finals saw Team Solent progress with a 89-65 victory over Sevenoaks Suns at home, the Semi-Finals however saw a long drive home as Team Solent lost out by 12 points with Nottingham Hoods winning 83-71.
Team Solent need support for Playoff Push
EBL Basketball Side Team Solent will face their first playoff challenge from Sevenoaks in the EBL Division Four playoffs on Saturday 20th March at St Mary's Leisure Centre, Tip Off 6pm.
Gates will open at 5pm and Admission will be £3 for Adults, £1.50 for Sport Solent Card Holders and FREE to Under 12's.
Solent Redhawks Playoff Progress
Solent Redhawks continued their unbeaten run with a 22-0 victory over Essex Eagles in the first round of the playoffs. This victory will see them through to the Final 8's where they face opposition from Hertfordshire.
Playoff Success for Team Solent
Both the American Football and the National Basketball Team successfully won their leagues and will feature in the playoffs of their first competitive season in their respective leagues.

Please come along to St Mary's Leisure Centre on Saturday, 6 March to watch Team Solent compete in the last league game of the basketball season versus Bristol Storm as they push for promotion.
Team Solent currently sit top of the England Basketball League and are looking for a big crowd in this important fixture.
Admission is £3, or £1.50 with a sport solent card, to be paid on the gate. Gate opens at 5pm, tip off at 6pm. Look forward to seeing you there!
