Team Solent (representing England) WIN the 30th Student Yachting World Cup

Team Solent became World Champions after pipping EPFL (Switzerland) side by six points as the battle between the two went right down to the wire. Post-coverage of their achievements has been covered by BBC South Today as well as numerous articles depicting what is a phenomenal achievement. Below is a breakdown of the even including each day's results, which reveal how Team Solent became World Champions for the second time! 

La Rochelle played host to the 30th Student Yachting World Cup where Team Solent proudly represented England. After winning their ninth BUCS title in ten years, Team Solent were accordingly invited to participate in the illustrious event.

They competed against 14 teams from a range of countries. Those countries included France, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Portugal, Canada, USA, England, Scotland, Ireland, Norway and Japan. Below is the full list of registered teams:

Team Solent Basketball

2/10/10
Team Solent, newly promoted to National League Division 3, showed that the higher level holds no fears as they opened the league campaign in style comfortably defeating Bognor Pirates 73-42 (Gaye 11, Rutter 11, Chubb 10).

9/10/10
Team Solent maintained their 100% start in Division 3 by edging out Hackney White Heat in their first home league tie of the campaign 78-76 (Rutter 22, Milner 13, Wilkins 10). A disciplined performance in defence, particularly as the clock ran down, saw Team Solent hold on to a vital victory.

16/10/10
Team Solent unfortunately lost their 100% league record away to Oxford Brookes. In a tightly contested fixture, Oxford Brookes took the game 83-80 (Rutter 13, Gaye 13, Milner 13). 

24/10/10
Team Solent comfortably progressed to the third round of the Men's National Shield with an emphatic 84-64 victory away to Reading University Rockets (Rutter 17, Milner 17, Payne 14).

30/10/10
Team Solent was unable to get the better of a strong London Westside team, losing the tie 73-63 (Rutter 14, Milner 7, Payne 6). Despite going in to the second half level at 35 apiece, London Westside eventually made their home and height advantage count, claiming the victory.

Team Solent Football

16/10/10
Team Solent progressed to the third round of the Southampton Senior Cup thanks to a    3-1 away victory against Allbrook.

23/10/10
Team Solent continued their Senior Cup run with a second round 2-1 victory away to Hamble Club. The hosts were narrowly beaten by fellow Senior Division rivals Team Solent, who will now face Colden Common in the third round.

30/10/10
Team Solent justified their title as 'Club of the Month' with a commanding victory over Sporting BW. But for the heroics of Sporting's Goalkeeper, the result would have been far more emphatic than the 3-0 that was the final outcome.

Team Solent are slowly climbing the table as they begin to make up their games in hand with a tie on Tuesday night (2/11/10) away to Locks Heath.
