Solent STAND Student becomes a World Champion!
Current Solent student Kate MacGregor has just been a part of the winning team at the ISAF (International Sailing Federation) Women's Match Racing World Championship. Kate was one of four women to represent Great Britain at the event, one of which was sister Lucy.
As you can imagine everyone at Sport Solent is immensely proud of Kate and the teams achievements. The University now looks forward to helping Kate in any way possible to achieve the ultimate goal, a Gold medal at the 2012 Olympics in Weymouth!

National News:
Team Solent Basketball
On Saturday 25 September, Team Solent took on the University of Chichester Thunder in a National Shield fixture. In front of a good crowd, thanks to a one-off offer of free entry, the men from Southampton ran out eventual winners taking the match 75 - 61. The 14-point margin was helped largely by Clayton Milner's contribution of 21 points. Team Solent will be looking to carry this momentum into their next fixture, a league match away to Bognor Pirates.

Hampshire Premier Football League
On Saturday 25 September, Team Solent came up against league leaders Otterbourne. Looking to close the five-point gap between them, Team Solent came out of the blocks and stormed to a 3-0 half-time lead. The match finished that way as Team Solent played to the final whistle, earning a well deserved and important win.
