Taught Courses

Normally involve formal lectures and/or seminar programmes and assessments which may include written examinations. They are intended to impart advanced knowledge or techniques in specialised aspects of the subject previously studied more generally at undergraduate level.

The degrees awarded for taught courses are:

Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma (PGCert/PGDip)

These usually require at least one year full-time study over two semesters or about two years' part-time study.

Master of Arts (MA), Master of Science (MSc), Master of Business Administration (MBA)

The MA and MSc  normally involve one year full-time study over three semesters or about three years' part-time study. Achieving a Master's qualification may involve writing a final dissertation after completing a PGDip course.

The MBA qualification usually requires one year full-time study or about two years' part-time study. The courses focus on the principles of management and the development of management skills. Candidates will normally be required to have at least two years' management experience, in addition to the graduate level qualifications which are the usual requirements for postgraduate study.
