What funding is available while you study?

You will need to be completely aware of the full cost of a university course. There is a lot of financial assistance available to help, but you would be very wise to research any hidden costs that you may incur, for example books, registration and studio fees. Doing sufficient homework on all of the options available to you financially will give you the best chance of completing your higher education course with as little debt as possible.

A level of debt is almost inevitable, but remember this is an investment for your future. The debt will only have to be paid when you start earning a certain amount, and should you ever be unemployed, the re-payments automatically stop. Further information about Student Loans and repayment can be found in our Financial Advice| section.

We've put together the following sections to provide you with information and tips about managing the costs of university.

If you would like to obtain a comprehensive picture of all the financial assistance available then please visit the Direct Gov - student finance| website.

As well as these websites, Southampton Solent University has put together booklets containing detailed information on the financial assistance available to support students. If you would like to download this information, visit Student Funding Advice & Information|. If you have any further queries about funding sources, contact a Student Funding Adviser.
