What is the Access to Learning Fund?

a non-repayable grant for those who are in financial hardship

can help with: living costs, childcare, travel, accommodation, household expenses, books and course equipment.

cannot pay for tuition fees

It may not be able to help those who have just mismanaged their finances - we can offer money management advice on this.

cannot fully compensate for the lack of parental contribution, especially where a student has only been able to take out the non-means tested part of the Maintenance Loan.

Funds are available from October to June or until the funds are exhausted, whichever is the soonest.
Who can apply to the Access to Learning Fund?

Full-time 'home' undergraduate and postgraduate students

Part-time 'home' undergraduate and postgraduate students - studying at least 50% of a full-time course (that is 60 credits), (25% for disabled students).

EU students who are in receipt of full UK funding (including Maintenance Loan).

International students cannot apply.
