Part time funding

To apply for part-time funding, you can contact Student Finance England (0845 300 5090) for an application form or go to the Direct.gov website|.

Funding rates for 2012

For new part-time entrants in 2012 (coming to Solent University)

  • Tuition Fee loan: up to £5,850 (depends on level of course intensity = max 75%; Min 25% FTE) and non-income assessed
  • National Scholarship: based on income below £25,000 and other university criteria.
  • The government's website will give you full information on part time funding and loan repayment for 2012 entrants.

Pre-2012 (current) part-time students in 2012/13:

  • Max fee grant: £1,230 (75% FTE)
  • Max course grant: £265 (income below £16,845)
  • Between £16,845 and £28,065: a portion of grant given.  
  • £28,066 and above = no grants given

Other sources of funding if you are studying an HND or degree part-time.

Please note: Most of these resources have specific criteria that must be satisfied (for example residence in the UK, number of units being studied, whether you have dependants, income assessment, and so on), therefore please read them all carefully.
