The Southampton Solent University Library offers…

  • Over 78 hours of access to the library each week in term-time with late evening and weekend opening times
  • Information librarians provide advice and guidance to students seeking specific subject information and they can be contacted in person, by telephone, or e-mail
  • Assistance with using the loans service and related enquiries from the library supervisors and the loans team
  • Peer support with using library facilities and resources from our team of library student ambassadors, especially during late night non-library staffed opening periods
  • Student induction tours and information skills training programmes, including a web-based 'virtual tour', and the succeed@research  interactive training package
  • Remote access to electronic information sources  
  • Support and help to part-time/distance students from the library supervisors either in person, via email or by telephone
  • A photocopy request and book reservation service for part-time students unable to regularly come into the library
  • Self-service photocopying facilities (black & white or colour) plus a printing and scanning service

  • Literature searching facilities for researchers
  • Research collections in the various areas of research activity, in particular specialist monographs and journals
  • Bookable private study rooms on Floor 1
  • Inter-library loans service - a fast document delivery service is offered to researchers using both the national and international library networks
  • Research publication - guidance is offered on the compilation of bibliographies for research papers, and we can assist in tracing the bibliographic details of obscure items, where needed
  • Information skills - the library organises workshops for researchers to raise their level of awareness and use of relevant electronic information services
  • Information librarians - offer one-to-one guidance on the availability and use of sources of information for individual research topics.
