Politics of Glastonbury Documentary

The Solent team converted an old VW Transporter Links vehicle into a multi camera operations vehicle which they used to film the Leftfield stage. They were able to shoot on three camera platforms, capturing a variety of footage including debates, solo comedians and speeches. This material forms the bulk of the Politics of Glasto documentary.

Politics of Glasto was the first documentary that TV Production Graduate Cameron Wheels had ever shot at a festival. The subject of the documentary is quite vast so it was a real challenge for Cameron, but thankfully he managed to over come any difficulties.

"Glastonbury was my first documentary shot at a festival and my was it an experience! The heat was one of the biggest things we had to overcome, working out in the heat for four days straight was tough, but was a great experience. The opportunity to get backstage access to talk to key contributors was a massive buzz and enables you to loose your fear and just approach them.

"Politics being a very vast subject opened up a whole can of worms, trying to find my story and my subject matters was only the beginning. I chose to focus on the sponsors and try to find the single theme that underlies all of their goals: by opening awareness and changing the small things it is only then you can try to change the larger matters. By showing rather than telling we aimed to convey this point,” he said.
