Filming The Blackout

The Blackout on stageWelsh headliners of the day, The Blackout, were the band of choice for the majority of the teenage audience. With band members names scrawled across arms and torsos, The Blackout fans turned up in plenty, which made for superb filming.

"At first I was pretty stunned by the amount of fans they had having previously listened to their music, but filming them, I understood why. Their live performance is so energetic and some-what sporadic, that filming them was great fun. I was filming them on the hand held but mainly focused on the drummer, which was great to capture", said Andy Wilkin, BA(Hons) Film and Television.

Sean from The Blackout, performing on stageGillian Sore, BA(Hons) Film Studies, who was using a fisheye camera to film both the crowd and band said: "It was incredible, I had such a great time recording The Blackout. I was even more impressed when I saw the footage. There's some incredible shots of the guitarist, Bob, playing into the crowd and the fisheye makes it look brilliant."

Victoria Purcell, BA(Hons) Media Studies who did both interviewing and filming said: "Being a big fan of The Blackout, I've interviewed and filmed them before on various occasions and am now good friends with them. They're always good to interview because of their funny chatty nature. They always make for good viewing, and today was no exception."
