Southampton has a wide selection of pubs, many of which are only a short walk from the University campus. From traditional British pubs with spacious beer gardens to student bars full of 80’s movie memorabilia, you are bound to find the perfect venue to suit any occasion. Solent Students’ Union runs a Safe Night Out scheme to help our students stay safe while enjoying the local nightlife.

The Alexandra

'The Alex' is a popular pub located close to the University campus and other night-time attractions. The Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones themed cocktails are a big hit, and visitors to the pub are kept entertained by the huge collection of 80’s film memorabilia on display.

The Angel of the South

The Angel isn’t exactly the most beautifully presented pub in Southampton, but that doesn’t mean that it’s without charm. With friendly regulars, a much loved quiz night and a varied selection of bar games, The Angel is definitely worth a look.

Brewdog

For those of you who love craft beer, there's no better place than Brewdog. The pub serves up its own unique beers as well as a carefully selected bunch of guest brews. The music and board games make the perfect atmosphere to enjoy some beers that are otherwise hard to come by. Don't forget to try the 2-4-1 pizzas!

The Cricketers

The Cricketers is another student favourite. Located inbetween many of Southampton’s most popular nightclubs, 'The Crick’ (as it’s referred to by locals) is the perfect spot to meet with friends before heading onto one of the larger nearby venues like PopWorld or Tokyo.

Giddy Bridge

The Giddy Bridge is the local J. D. Wetherspoon pub. Its proximity to Southampton’s nightclubs means that it has a slightly different atmosphere to other Wetherspoon establishments, particularly at the weekend. The cheap drinks, generously portioned food and central location make it a student favourite.

London Rd Brew House

The Brew House is right on the edge of the busy Bedford Place area. There are two bars, Sky and BT Sport and it even has its own microbrewery which produces an eclectic range of craft beers. While you're there, make sure you try one of their delicious pizzas!

Luckily, the management have always been more than willing to let fans of the paranormal perform their ‘investigations’.

The Rockstone

The Rockstone is a superb community pub located near the city centre. This friendly pub has picked up a string of national awards by combining locally sourced and homemade food with a subtle rockabilly/blues theme.
