Student Union WebsiteThe Students' Union forms an integral part of student representation within the university.

The president is the students' representative on the board of governors and other sabbatical officers attend university committees such as academic board, faculty boards and course committees to ensure effective representation for all students - full and part-time, undergraduate and postgraduate.

The NUS Extra card costs £11 and will entitle you to discounts at stores such as HMV, Odeon Cinemas and Top Shop locally, nationally and internationally, as well as specific companies in Southampton.

There are many clubs and societies which are funded through the union and run by students.

Entertainment is provided by the union, with balls, themed nights and various social meetings taking place throughout the year. The Students' Union holds many formal events over the year including the Freshers' Ball, Graduation Ball and the Summer Festival. Sports clubs and societies have the opportunity to organise nights in the union bars for their members.

Facilities and services include the Student Advice Centre which offers a comprehensive and confidential information and advice service to students, a student shop, a copy shop, two cashpoint machines (Barclays and NatWest) and a photo booth.

There are two bars to cater for the range of students at the university including a catering outlet in the bottom bar.

This summer has seen the successful refurbishment of the middle floor, with the executive officers residing there, as well as Radio Sonar and the SU shop. The Wifi lounge is available to all users to relax or get on with some work in a more social environment. In the evenings this turns into a chillout lounge with a satellite bar on big events.
