About the course

A highly regarded qualification from a recognised provider of specialist professional marketing training, the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM)’s Certificate in Professional Marketing allows you to develop the marketing skills sought after in both the private and public sectors.

Taught through a blend of online, distance and face-to-face tuition, the CIM certificate is ideal for junior marketers or those working in marketing support who want to build a marketing career and move into management roles. 

You will learn the essential knowledge and skills to successfully implement a range of tactical marketing activities at an operational level. The course also covers a range of relevant business topics, and gives you access to the world's leading professional marketing organisation.

Fees also have to be made to the CIM for membership and assessment. Modules can be paid for separately - ie £425 + CIM fees.

    CIM Level 4 Diagnostic Test Results – Minimum 40% in each area

    Please contact us for information about the diagnostic test.

    AND one (or more) of the following may be required

    • CIM Level 3 Introductory Certificate in Marketing
    • CIM Foundation Certificate in Marketing
    • Any relevant Level 3 qualification
    • Any UK degree or international equivalent
    • International Baccalaureate (equivalent to NQF Level 3 and above)
    • Professional practice (suggested one year in a marketing role) plus diagnostic assessment onto Level 4

    If English isn’t your first language, you will also need to demonstrate you have achieved one of the following English language qualifications within the last two years:

    • IELTS Academic Module with an overall score of 6.5 (each component pass mark must be 6.0 or above).
    • Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English grade B or above.
    • Other English Language qualifications may be considered.

What you'll study

Modular Pathway

Course structure: 2 mandatory + 1 option 

  • Marketing (mandatory module) 

  • Integrated Communications (mandatory module) 

Options: 

  • Customer Experience 

  • Digital Marketing

This qualification’s modular structure allows for complete flexibility – you can complete a full qualification, study as single module as a stand-alone Award, or even complete the full qualification and add an Award to it. 

For example taking the Marketing, Integrated Communications and Customer Experience modules would give you the certificate. If you then study the Digital Marketing module, you’ll receive a CIM Certificate in Professional Marketing with an Award in Digital Marketing.

The professional certificate leaves you well-placed for further marketing study, such as on the CIM Diploma in Professional Marketing or CIM Chartered Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing, both of which are available through Southampton Solent University.
