The Intervention Initiative is a bystander intervention programme for the prevention of sexual and domestic violence in UK universities. Aimed at encouraging men and women to change the social norms that support problematic and abusive behaviours, the initiative was commissioned and funded by Public Health England.
At this lecture you'll hear from the project leader, Dr Rachel Fenton, who is Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of the West of England. Rachel has a longstanding research in violence against women, with many publications about sexual offences and issues relating to gender and the law. She is a co-editor of Gender, Sexualities and Law (Glasshouse 2011) and is currently writing a monograph titled Vulnerability, Violence Against Women and University Contexts for Routledge.
Attendees will learn about how applicable the intervention initiative and bystander toolkit will be to the University and Southampton city communities.
