In collaboration with BCS Hampshire and BCS Animation and Games Development Specialist Group, this presentation explores three key components: challenge, agency and catharsis. How are they defined? Why are they important?
Senior lecturer for computer games, Adam Barton, will be delivering this presentation, discussing the framework G.R.E.D.O.C, which provides six narrative elements that can be used to break down a game. From objects used in gameplay to feedback, Adam will explore what makes games fun to play.
Adam has over twenty years’ experience in games development as an artist, animator, designer and technical artist. He has been working at Solent University since 2003 and has research interests that include visualisation of big data and procedural art generation.
