Professor Peter Lloyd, Dean of the School of Art, Design and Fashion, has been elected as a member of the Royal Society of Painter Printmakers.

The Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers, previously known as the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers, was established in 1880 and is one of the world's premier printmaking organisations.

All of the Society's members are practising professional printmakers, elected after a rigorous selection by a panel of their peers.

“This is a fantastic honour for me and one that allows me to use the initials RE after my name (Royal Etcher), although for the first year I use the acronym ARE (Associate Royal Etcher),” explains Professor Lloyd. “I was privileged to be asked to sit on the judging panel of their annual show, the National Open Print Exhibition, and subsequently I was asked to join the Societies hanging committee to provide the forward for their catalogue and then the opening address for their private view.

“I am very proud to have been elected to this prominent society and intend to use the platform to celebrate and advance the discipline. I also look forward to making the society and its many benefits accessible to Solent's students and staff.”
