Re:So get selling at Common People

If you were at the Common People festival in Southampton this weekend (28-29 May), chances are you stumbled across a marquee being run by Re:So, our very own student-led retail initiative.

On sale was a range of vintage fashion, some cool products from student and graduate suppliers, and festival accessories such as sunglasses, jewellery and beanie hats. Also inside the marquee was a DJ from local nightclub the Orange Rooms, playing the latest hits.

In true Re:So fashion, students were heavily involved in both preparing for and running the pop-up stall. They decided what stock was taken, set everything up within the marquee, ran the social media, while at the same time keeping the main store, in the Marlands Centre, open.

Lisa Mann, Re:So’s academic leader, said: “It’s always great to see the students taking ownership of the activities and events here at Re:So. They have worked brilliantly as a team and I was excited to see how many people we engaged with at the festival.”

More than £1,400 was taken over the weekend, and Lisa added: “We learnt a huge amount about how we can do some things differently, and making it even more successful in the future.

“The students that ran the marquee were absolutely amazing; they were faced with all sorts of people to deal with, and the experience has made them very confident about what the Re:So project represents, their own abilities, and the university.”

Re:So’s recent pop-ups, which include Common People and a store in Brighton, as well as plans for a pop-up in Topshop’s Oxford Street store next week, have all contributed to Southampton Solent University’s new ranking. We are now in the top 100 fashion schools in the world, as voted by CEOWORLD Magazine!
